Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 31, 2026
StreetHub (The Streets) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use thestreethub.ca and our apps, how we use it, and the choices you have. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
Who we are
The data controller for StreetHub is The Streets / StreetHub operating thestreethub.ca, a platform focused on housing, employment, and community resources for newcomers and residents across Canada.
Information we collect
We collect: account details (name, email, phone, password hash); profile and listing information you choose to provide; messages sent through StreetHub; saved listings and checklist progress; verification documents for Tenant accounts; payment and subscription metadata from Stripe (we do not store full card numbers); photos and files you upload to listings; and technical logs (IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed) needed for security and performance.
Identity verification documents
If you register as a Tenant, you may upload a Canadian passport, permanent resident card, visa, study permit, or work permit. These files are encrypted in transit and at rest, accessible only to authorized verification staff, used solely to confirm posting eligibility, and never displayed on your public profile or listings.
How we use information
We use your information to create and secure your account; display and moderate listings; enable messaging; verify Tenant identity; process subscriptions; send service notifications; improve maps, search, and accessibility; detect fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
When we share information
We share limited data with service providers who help us operate StreetHub — including hosting (Railway/Vercel), object storage for photos, email (Resend), payments (Stripe), and analytics — under contracts that require them to protect your data. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the platform.
Retention & security
We retain account and listing data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal and safety requirements. Verification documents are kept only as long as needed for review and compliance, then deleted or archived securely. We use encryption, access controls, and monitoring to protect data.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to legal exceptions. You may withdraw consent for optional communications and close your account by contacting Support. We will respond to privacy requests within a reasonable time.
